The International Cricket Council has announced the schedule for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 to be held in India. The first match of this mega event will be played between England and New Zealand on October 5. A total of 10 teams will participate in the ODI World Cup 2023, out of which matches will be played under a round robin format. All the teams will get a chance to play a total of 9 matches.

For the third time in the history of the ODI World Cup, the tournament will be played in a round robin format. Earlier in the year 1992, the World Cup matches were organized in this format for the first time, while in the year 2019, matches were played in the ODI World under this format for the second time.

All the 10 participating teams in the upcoming ODI World Cup will get a chance to play against each other in a round robin format. In such a situation all the teams will play a total of 9 matches. Thus, the teams that win more matches and make it to the top-4, will directly qualify for the semi-finals.

After that, the knockout matches will begin. The No.1 team in the points table will face No.4, while No.2 will face No.3 in the semi-finals. The winning teams will secure their place in the final match.

Due to the tournament being played under this format, there is a fierce competition between all the teams. With every match being important for the team, there will also be an exciting battle to get a place in the top-4.

The Indian team’s performance in the ODI World Cup played in the round robin format has not been good. When the tournament was first played in this format in 1992, India could not even make it to the top-4. On the other hand, when the ODI World Cup was played for the second time in the round robin format in the year 2019, the Indian team’s journey ended with a loss to New Zealand in the semi-final match.
