India suffered a big loss in the ICC rankings due to the series loss against Australia

India performed well in the Test series against Australia, but India’s performance in the ODI series was poor. Australia defeated Rohit Sharma’s team in Chennai ODI and won the three-match ODI series 2-1. India had to face defeat in this match by 21 runs. Along with this defeat, India also lost its number one position in the ICC ODI Team Rankings.

In the first month of the year, India defeated New Zealand 3-0 in the ODI series played at home and got the first position in the rankings. After that the team also defeated Sri Lanka by 3-0 in the three match series. Even in the series against Australia, the team won the first ODI by 5 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, but lost the last two matches and had to face defeat in the series. As a result, there was a loss in the ranking and now Australia has become the No. 1 ODI team leaving behind India.

Australia first position

Before the third ODI, India was first with 114 rating points and Australia was second with 112 rating points. With the 21-run victory in the third ODI, Australia has moved slightly ahead of India and the visiting team has got 113.286 rating points, while Australia of the Indian team has secured the first position.

It is noteworthy that in the third ODI played in Chennai, Australia scored 269 runs for 10 wickets in 49 overs after winning the toss and batting first. In response, India started well and came close to winning the match on the basis of Virat Kohli’s half-century, but eventually lost wickets at regular intervals and the entire team was all out for 248 runs.
