A major decision has been taken regarding the women’s and men’s ICC events at the ongoing International Cricket Council (ICC) ICC annual conference in Durban. To give a new impetus to women’s cricket, the ICC has now decided to make the prize money in women’s events similar to that in men’s events. The Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Jay Shah has expressed his happiness by tweeting about this decision of the ICC.
Until now, women did not receive the same prize money as men in ICC events. Now by the year 2030 this thing will be made equal. Now ODIs, T-20s and other ICC tournaments played between men and women will see the same prize money.
Regarding this decision, ICC President Greg Barclay said, “This is a big and historic decision for us and I am happy that now men and women players will get equal prize money in ICC events. Since 2017, we have increased prize money in women’s events every year with a clear focus on reaching equal prize money.
Regarding this historic decision, BCCI Secretary Jai Shah expressed his happiness by tweeting, “I am very happy with this decision, now the discrimination between men’s and women’s teams has been completely eliminated.” Both teams can now move forward together. I express my gratitude to all the members involved with the Board regarding this decision.
