Thirimanne had been out of the team for a long time. He last played for Sri Lanka in March 2022. Since then he was walking out of the team. Thirimanne has scored 4 centuries in ODI cricket and 3 centuries in Tests. Thirimanne has shared an emotional post on social media regarding his retirement.
Thirimanne wrote on Instagram, “It is a matter of pride for me to play for the country. Thank you for the wonderful memories I have received over the past 13 years. Thank you for your well wishes during my journey. Now we will meet at the next stop.” Till the time of writing, Thirimanne’s post had been liked by many people on Instagram.
