Records T20 Match Between South Africa vs West Indies

In the second T-20 match of the three-match series played at Centurion, South Africa defeated West Indies by 6 wickets, achieving the biggest target in T20 history. Batting first, West Indies scored 258/5 for 5 in 20 overs, in response to which South Africa scored 259/4 with seven balls remaining and won the match.


West Indies Batting

Batting first after losing the toss, West Indies got off to a poor start. Brendan King was dismissed on the third ball of the innings on a personal score of 1. From here, the aggressive batting style of Kyle Meyers and Johnson Charles was seen and both of them put on century partnerships while batting in tremendous style. Meyers played an innings of 51 runs off 27 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes and was dismissed for 137 runs. While Nicholas Pooran could not do anything special and got out after scoring 2 runs. Charles Eck completed his century in a team-leading 39 balls and broke the record for the fastest T20I century for West Indies. He scored 118 runs in 46 balls with the help of 11 fours and 11 sixes. Rowman Powell contributed 28 runs. Romario Shepherd exploded in the last over and scored an unbeaten 41 off 18 balls to take the team to their biggest T20 score. For South Africa, Marco Jensen took three wickets and Wayne Parnell took two wickets.

South Africa Chasing Target

Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks got off to a torrid start for South Africa chasing the target. The pair scored 102 runs in the Powerplay itself and held the world record for most runs in the first six overs of a T20 innings. Both the batsmen put on a huge partnership of 152 runs in 10.5 overs. Meanwhile de Kock managed to complete his century and got out after scoring 100 runs in 42 balls. Rilee Rossouw scored 16 runs. Hendricks also played a blistering innings of 68 runs off 28 balls. David Miller scored 10 runs. Captain Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen scored quick runs in the last over to make their team successful in the record chase. Markram scored 38 off 21 balls and Heinrich Klaasen scored 16 not out.

Both teams are tied 1-1 in the three-match series. The series will now be decided on March 28 in Johannesburg. Whichever team wins this match, the series will be in their name.
