ICC Player Rankings: Shubman Gill’s explosion in ODI batting rankings
Indian team’s young opening batsman Shubman Gill has reached the fourth position in the latest ODI batting rankings announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Since the beginning of the year 2023, Shubman Gill has been in excellent form in the limited overs format where he also scored a double century in ODIs.
Shubman Gill has reached the best ranking of his ODI career in the latest rankings released by the ICC, with his current rating of 738 at the fourth position. Currently, Pakistan captain Babar Azam is on the first position in the ODI batting rankings with 887 rating points.
Shubman Gill’s 3-match ODI series against Australia that ended last month was nothing special with the bat, in which he managed just 57 runs. Apart from this, Gill’s bat has seen 3 ODI centuries so far this year.
Virat Kohli reached the 6th position
Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has also moved up to the sixth spot in the ODI batting rankings, with a total of 719 rating points for Kohli, who has scored 427 runs so far this year with two centuries and one half-century. The third Indian player currently in the top-10 of the ICC ODI rankings includes captain Rohit Sharma, who is ranked 8th with a total of 707 rating points.
Talking about ODI bowling rankings, Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has managed to retain his number-3 position. Currently, Australia’s fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is on the first position while New Zealand team’s fast bowler Trent Bould is on the second position.
