Team India announced for Australia series, Rohit-Virat got rest; Ashwin’s comeback
Team India has been announced for the three-match ODI series against Australia starting from September 22. Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma have been rested for the first two matches. The leadership of the team has been entrusted to Rahul. R Ashwin has returned to the team. However, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya will return to the squad for the third ODI.
BCCI has decided to rest the senior players from the first two ODIs in view of a big event like the World Cup. Along with it, it has also come to light that there may be changes in Team India for the World Cup. Due to Akshar Patel’s injury, the selectors have to think about his place. R Ashwin and Washington Sundar are being looked at as alternatives. Hence these two players have been kept in the team for all three ODIs. It is possible that one of Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar will get a ticket to the World Cup.
Apart from this, the selectors have named Ruturaj Gaikwad in the squad for the first two ODIs. Tilak Verma and the legendary Krishna are also part of the squad for the first two ODIs. But these three players will not be with the team in the third ODI. However, Sanju Samson has not been selected for any match. It is clear from this that the doors of Team India are closed for Sanju Samson.
India has to play three ODI matches against Australia. The first ODI will be played on September 22, while the second ODI will be played on September 24. The third and final ODI of the series will be played on September 27.
