Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians have added two new players to the squad for the 16th season of IPL. Delhi has included Bengal wicketkeeper batsman Abhishek Porel in place of captain Rishabh Pant. Whereas, Mumbai have opted for Sandeep Warrier instead of Jasprit Bumrah. The IPL will begin on Friday (March 31) with a match between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans.

Rishabh Pant is not playing this season due to an injury sustained in a car accident on December 30 last year. While Bumrah has been sidelined from professional cricket for a long time due to a lower back problem. He was also unable to play in the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup. His replacement Sandeep played one T-20 match for India against Sri Lanka in 2021. He gave 23 runs in three overs. During this time he did not get a single success.

“Wicketkeeper-batsman Porel has played 16 first-class matches for Bengal in addition to three List A and as many T20s. Sandeep Warrier has played for India. He has so far taken 62 wickets in 68 T20 matches,” the IPL said in a statement. Was part of Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore.Sandeep Warrier has played five IPL matches.

Delhi Capitals have included Abhishek Porel in their team for Rs 20 lakh. Whereas, Mumbai Indians have spent 50 lakh rupees for Sandeep Warrier. Talking about Porel, he has scored 695 runs in the first class at an average of 30.21. He has eight stumpings besides taking 58 catches. He scored half-centuries in the semi-finals and final of the Ranji Trophy this year.
