Shubman Gill scored a brilliant century in the second qualifier of IPL 2023. He scored a century for the third time this season. Along with this, he has made many records in his name. Gill completed his century in 49 balls. This was the joint fastest century in an IPL playoff match. Gill was preceded by Wriddhiman Saha in the final match of IPL 2014 and Rajat Patidar in the eliminator match last season too in 49 balls.

Shubman Gill is the seventh batsman to score a century in the playoffs. He is also the youngest player to do so. He has scored a century in any IPL playoff match at the age of 23 years and 260 days.
Shubman Gill most centuries Season
This was Shubman Gill’s third century in IPL 2023. Shubman Gill has moved to the third position in terms of scoring the most centuries in a season. Virat Kohli scored fours each in 2016 and Jos Buttler scored a century in the 2022 IPL. Gill has surpassed players like Shane Watson and Chris Gayle in this regard. Chris Gayle, Hashim Amla, Shane Watson, Shikhar Dhawan and Lokesh Rahul have scored two centuries in a season. Virat Kohli has also scored two consecutive centuries this season.
Shubman Gill 800 runs IPL season
Shubman Gill became the fourth batsman to score more than 800 runs in an IPL season. Virat Kohli is the leader in scoring most runs in a season. Kohli scored 973 runs in IPL 2016 with four centuries. While Jos Buttler scored 863 runs with the help of four centuries last season. David Warner has also scored 848 runs in 2016.
Shubman Gill scored 129 runs in 60 balls in this match. This was the biggest innings in IPL playoff matches. Earlier Virender Sehwag played the biggest innings in the playoffs. Sehwag scored 122 runs for Punjab against Chennai in IPL 2014. Due to Gill’s brilliant innings, the Gujarat team could score only 233 runs for three wickets. This is the biggest score of Gujarat team. It is also the second highest score against Mumbai.
