Steven Smith made many records by scoring a century against India
As the second day of the World Test Championship (WTC) final match began, it did not take long for Steven Smith to score his 31st Test century. When the first day’s play ended, Steven Smith remained unbeaten after scoring 95 runs. After that, in the first over of the second day’s game, Smith completed his century by hitting two consecutive fours.
With this century, Steve Smith has now become third in terms of scoring most centuries in Test format for Australia. Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh are ahead of them. Ponting has played 41 innings in Test format for Australia while Steve Waugh has played 32 century innings. With this century, Smith also completed 9 centuries in Test format against India.
Now Smith has jointly reached the first place with Joe Root in scoring the most centuries in Test format against India. Apart from this, this is the 7th century of Smith in England. In which he has reached the second place after Sir Don Bradman’s 11 centuries in terms of scoring the most centuries in England as a foreign batsman.
Steve Smith has also completed 2000 runs in this format against India with his 31st Test century. Smith’s average in Test format against India has been seen to be around 69 so far. Apart from this, Smith has now reached fourth place with 43 centuries in terms of scoring most centuries among active players. This is Smith’s second century in ICC knockout matches. Earlier in the year 2015 ODI World Semi Final Smith had scored a century against India.
