Jason Roy axed for Harry Brook as England finalise World Cup squad
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the 15-member squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup to be played in India from October 5. England have named Harry Brook in their squad for the World Cup after winning the ODI series 3-1 against New Zealand. However, star fast bowler Jofra Archer is not part of this team.
England men’s cricket team chief selector Luke Wright said, “We have picked a team that we think can go to India and win the World Cup. We are fortunate to have a great team in white-ball cricket. This team has played against the likes of New Zealand. Won the ODI series against a good team.”
Notably, Jason Roy has not got a place in the 2023 ODI World Cup team. Harry Brook has been included in the 15-man squad in place of Jason Roy. Regarding it, the Chief Selector has said, “We have to take some difficult decisions. We have replaced Jason Roy with Harry Brook in this team.”
England have preferred all-rounders in the World Cup squad. The team has four all-rounders in the form of Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes. Apart from this, two spinners and four fast bowlers have got a place in the World Cup team.
